Stage design

The project is an arts residency program in collaboration with Đàn Đó group in October, 2020 with the goal
of creating a performance stage. Inspired by the group's music and their homemade bamboo instruments, Duong created a dried bamboo-leaf carpet. she wanted to bring the feeling of listening to the group's music to the audience. This gave me the idea of covering the entire exhibition space as well as the stage with bamboo
leaves. The forest smell and feeling of rustling leaves brought the audiences to the opening of the performance. The group's instruments are arranged on top of a short set of steps. The stage background plays with a shadow effect. Duong used this effect with artist Đức Phương's drawing to create a 'Moon shadow', imagining Đàn Đó playing and dancing to their music.
